I was an infantry soldier in Vietnam assigned to the 25th. Division. I remember sleeping on the ground under the protection of tanks assigned to the 3/4 Cav. My son is a 2 tour combat wounded infantry sergeant recently medically retired from the 101st. Abn. My heart goes out to Casey's family and friends. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering you are enduring from his loss. May God bless you and keep you. May Casey's soul rest in peace with the other fallen Heros.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Casey, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

My heart is with you buddy.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry-
I am not there... I did not die...

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

Randy & Jamie,
We send our sympathy and prayers to you and your family. We had the privilege to know Casey throughout the years while he played baseball with our son Stephen. Both on and off the field he always exhibited a kind and compassionate manner. A few days before we heard the tragic news we were remembering baseball stories and Casey in particular was mentioned. May he now rest in peace and please, know that he may be gone; but, he will never be forgotten. He will live on in our memories and hearts. "comfort, O comfort my people" says your God. ~Isaiah 40:1. God Bless.

I went to school with Casey and I never saw him be unkind to anyone. We were not in the same circle of friends we only spoke in passing. Though he was one of those people that left an impression, everyone you knew seemed to know him. It was a blessing to have him in your life and an honor to have had him defend our country and freedom. He is a HERO. My sympathys go out to those who knew and loved him, I feel for your loss and pray that God will grant you comfort in your time of sorrow.
MATT 5:4
"then he said to them,my soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death...and he went a little further, fell on his face and cried, O my father,if it be possible, let this cup pass from me nevertheless not as my will, but as your will" MATT 26:38+39

Mr. and Mrs. Zylman, though I never had the pleasure of meeting your son, Monday I will stand tall and proud with my fellow PGR members in honoring the life of your son. I too graduated from CHS along with my wife and though we no longer live in Coleman it will always be home to us. My neices and nephews knew Casey and my brother coached him in Little League. I was the lone PGR standing under the M-30 overpass and was able to catch up with my fellow riders and have the honor of being part of the escort. God bless you Casey Zylman for the freedom you served to protect.

I never met Casey - I didn't have to. The moment he signed on to serve this country and defend and represent each one of us, he became one of my heroes. For him to make the ultimate sacrifice puts him in the ranks of the most honored citizens of the US of A - our American soldiers.
My kids all knew Casey and are deeply touched by this loss. They all tell me what an awesome person he was. I wish I could have met him.
May God comfort all of Casey's family and friends at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this time.

I wasn't ever really close to Casey, though I'd known him since second grade, back in Mrs. McCartney's class. I had him in a few classes in high school, also...and while we never spoke, I'd always thought that he had a wonderful leadership quality about him, and an undeterrable confidence.
He'd always seemed so serious to me, but judging by all of the tributes and comments that I've been seeing for/about him, there was something more than that serious side to him. I'm sad that I did not know it.

Casey, you'll never be forgotten...
You, your family, friends, and loved ones are in my thoughts, and I think it's safe to say, in everyone else's as well.

Say hi to John for us.

Whether or not we have noticed a difference in our world at this very moment, When the world changes and war is over we will first and foremost remember to thank Casey for being Colemans Hero. I thank him for standing up for all of us and showing the world that he cared more than the people that stand next to you everyday. He was a very brave young man. I am proud of him and all the soliders. I will hold my head high and cry happy tears when I think of Casey. For he will live on in the small community forever as a hero that never dies.

I've known Casey pretty much since we all started T-ball back when we were like 5 or 6. And every year after that, playing baseball with him and seeing him in school, I got to know what a great person he really was. About a year ago, I talked with his parents and they had said how he was getting ready to go over to Iraq, and how scared they were for him. I know that no words can explain what they must be going through, but they can know that they have an entire community behind them and here for their support. Casey, you will be missed by many, but forgotten by none.

Dear family, What a tragedy for a loved one to die young! He served his country well and gave the ultimate sacrifice for us. For this I thank him. I mostly thank the Lord Almighty for having the ultimate plan for Casey. He will never again have to fight in a war, be sad or lonely, or have a single worry. I know he will be missed by his family and friends. I know the grandparents of Shane Wootten and have also meet Shane as a result of sending Christmas presents to the men who served with Casey. Shane loved his brother, Casey, and will miss him.

I pray God's blessings on you, his family. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to write.

Know in your heart that Casey is a true hero and will never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all. Rest in peace Casey. You will be missed by everyone’s life you have touched.

To Casey's family, as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.

Aimee and family,

Just wanted to tell you how very sorry I was to hear about Casey. I didn't know him, but from what I have read I think I missed a lot by not knowing him he sounds like a wonderful guy. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

To the Zylman Family,
My son Mike was a classmate of Casey's at Coleman High. Cling to the happy times, the laughter and love that Casey gave to all that came in contact with him. He was a true hero and will be always remembered.

Casey you portrayed what we Americans value most...freedom. Thank you for your commitment and bravery. I'm sorry that you had to give the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms and liberties. You are a hero to us! Our prayers to Casey's family, God Bless each one and I pray the Lord gives you peace and comfort during this sad time. I too am a parent of a soldier and my heart is heavy to know of another loss of a brave young man.

Mr. and Mrs. Zylman and Aimee, I just wanted to let you know my heart goes out to your family. My children knew Casey and have said what a nice, likeable person he was. Sarah (Tanner) Karl said he was the person everyone liked and could always make people laugh. Only people who've lost a child can truly understand the crushing, unrelenting pain you are feeling. Casey was and is a hero. Be proud of the man you raised your child to be. If there is anything I can do to help, even late night phone calls don't be afraid to reach out. Our number is (989) 465-1197. I am truly sorry and wish there was a way I could ease your pain.
Sincerely,
Roy and Laurel Tanner

Randy, Jamie, Amie and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Casey was my little brother too. You were all my extended family and growing up with the Zylman family was wonderful. My life would not be the same without your family in my life when we kids were so young. I have so many stories about Casey when he was very young and I still tell them to this day. Amie, Casey and I had a lot of good times, I pretty much lived at your house. I'm sorry we have lost touch but it is times like these that make you realize what is really important, the people you love. Casey is a hero and will always be a hero. He was a wonderful person with good values and morals. He will always be rememberd. I know he is with God now. I love you guys.

To all of you that have written. I know that members of the Zylman family have read your kind words and will continue to do so though out the next days. Know that Casey was one of the best. He was one of the kids that every parent wish theirs would turn into. Being an only son, and one of only two children in the Zylman family Casey had a free pass and didn’t need to go to Iraq. Being the wonderful, caring man that he is, he wouldn’t let his brothers go without him. I believe that sums Casey up. He cared more for everyone around him then he ever did himself.

Z, we love and miss you. But you already knew how much you were loved by everyone around you and because of who you were, we all know that you loved us. We are all better people for knowing you. Your beautiful smile and infectious laughter will live with us forever.

All my love
Melanie and Miranda

Our hearts go out to the Zylman Family. May you be comforted by Gods' loving embrace. Please know you are not alone in your pain, as we have also lost our son in this conflict. Our whole country grieves with you in the loss of your Hero. We pray for the healing hands of our Heavenly Father upon your hearts. God Bless you. Casey is now guarding the streets of Heaven with our son and many many more from Michigan. Only those who have suffered the loss of a child can truely understand the depth of your grief and pain.

I did not know Casey, but I am sincerely sorry for the loss of this American hero. I know words will not comfort you as they have not comforted me. I lost my little brother, Sgt. Justin Wisniewski, to a roadside bomb on May 19th, 2007. We buried him yesterday. It has not gotten easier, but know that a lot of people grieve with you and Casey is a hero. He and my brother and thousands of Americans have died for our freedom.

Your family is truly in my prayers, as well as the prayers of my family, as we all grieve the loss of my brother and grieve for your loss as well. These young men are the bravest of the brave and their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

My sincerest condolences.

I did not know Casey, but didn't have to. I do know that he was an amazing young man who was brave and courageous enough to defend this great nation. To his family I say....my thoughts and prayers are with you. I lost my nephew in Taji on November 15th, 2005. I hope that angels lift you up and give you strength to deal with this horrible tragedy. But know that there are many of us out here that will praise his heroism and remember him. And may I also say to you...the family....THANK YOU for your service to our country as well. When our young men go off to defend this great nation, our military families are serving as well. May God Bless and keep you in his arms. My deepest sympathies for your loss.

We can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your young Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter has served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With the mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has Casey in his arms and will give him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and PFC. Casey P. Zylman, our HERO. We are so proud of them that are willing to sacrifice for this great Nation, THANK YOU.
