I am the current commander of your son's former battery: Bravo Battery,
2-5 FA from Fort Sill, OK. We have been deployed again to Iraq. I did not know your son, but I remember seeing his picture proudly displayed in our battalion conference room back in Oklahoma before we left. Yesterday was Memorial Day and I decided to do a "special article " in our deployed battery newsletter (The Bull Times) on your son and our fallen comrade. If you would like to see this and or just keep track of us, please contact me at [email protected]
Personally, I want you all to know that SGT Sandoval's zest for life, espcially after his injury, is truly inspiring. I too am a survivor of a traumatic brain injury...albeit at the hands of me and my Kawasaki hitting a 600 pound Bull moose in the summer of 2008 (google: kim king moose). I have googled SGT Sandoval's name all over the internet and the one thing that sticks out is the saying "SGT Sandoval's Fight". To the end, from what I have read and the images I have seen, he was a fighter. He seemed to never let his injuries stop him from living his life to the fullest. I am quite proud to be in command of Bravo Battery in the first place, but even more as I have learnt of this man of a soldier.
I want you all to know SGT Sandoval's memory is quite alive here in Iraq as there are a few soldiers in the battery still that knew him well and other fellow soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan that keep his memory alive. Our battery's mascot is a bull, as a result we call ourselves Bravo Bulls....to me SGT Sandoval will ALWAYS be a Bravo Bull !

When they ask where America gets these great lads, the answer is they are descendants of noble, humble and strong men. Frankie's maternal grandfather was a gentle-souled man and his paternal grandfather was a fearless warrior. Frankie was the epitome of a man; ferocious in battle and life when protecting what is right; but also a loving and caring soul not afraid to extend his feelings to family and friends. On this Memorial Day, we miss you, Mijo, but honor you as well. God Bless and thank you for the example you've set for many people.

There are so many wounded warrior stories out there that you never hear about...I just came across Frank's story while surfing the net today and I can tell you, it got emotional for me, being a former Soldier and retiring, to see such courage and motivation he put forth to live for his family and our country. If possible, if Michelle has a facebook account, I'd love to be friends there. Please add me (Gary Mead Jr), and I send my belated condolences to you, your daughter and the Sandoval family. Let's pray this world can come to peace someday soon so families do not have to continue to go through such heartfelt pain.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Frank, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I am sorry to learn of Frank's wounding, struggle, and death; and I wish to express my gratitude for his efforts in the Army. He began serving America and sacrificing for each one of us long before he was called upon to make this final, ultimate sacrifice. He is worthy of our honor and continued appreciation.
I know that your heart is broken, and my words are insufficient to comfort you. Please know that I sincerely thank you for sharing Frank with my family and my country.

To my cousin Ricky and his family, my deepest condolences and my prayers are with all of you. When I heard of what happened to frankie I was shocked. I remember him as a little boy with curly hair. I haven't seen any of you in a very long time and this sure wasn't the way I wanted to contact you. But as we all know, God works in mysterious ways. I love all of you and miss you dearly. My son (who's name is also Frankie) is in the Marines and has also been to Iraq twice. I live with the fear that he will have to return again. Please tell Michelle and Joey I send my love to the both of them as well. Even though we have never met, they are part of my family. May God Bless you all and give you the strength to carry on. Frankie was a very brave man and his memory will live on forever. Please contact me.

Tears from Heaven were flowing
Causing the clouds to swell,
The Angels in Heaven were crying
On the day we bid you farewell.
It grieved us to say good-bye
The Angels knew our pain,
So their tears became the moisture
That fell in the form of rain.
God needed another Angel
Whose good deeds on Earth were done,
He needed someone special
You were the chosen one.
Happy memories of you surrounds us
They make us laugh and smile,
We were blessed to have you with us
Even though it was just for a while.
We will meet again someday
In the city made of gold,
We shall be together forever
God's words have been foretold

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I was Frank's command sergeant major before, during, and after his going to Iraq on his second tour of duty. He was a fine Soldier, husband, father, and son. Frankie was the kind of man that you'd want in the foxhole with you on a dark and dangerous night. I am proud to have known him and to have served with him. The entire Rock Hard Battalion family grieves over his loss. The real tragedy of his loss is that his wife and soul mate, Michelle, and he are parted from this world...but only for a season. God, in His infinite wisdom, will join them together in the next world, I'm sure. No man could ask for a better woman to walk through life with, and even though Frank and Michelle only had a short time together, they loved a lifetime's worth. I still stand in awe of this fine lady as she never flinched or lost heart in being there for the man she loved. The motto of the 5th Field Artillery Regiment is "Faithful and True." Frank and Michelle were certainly that. I have known thousands of Soldiers during my 26 years of service...but rarely has one man touched my heart and soul, and those of so many others, as did Sergeant Frank M. Sandoval. We would ask that God take him unto Himself and receive the soul of his servant, Sergeant Frank Michael Sandoval...American hero.

To Michelle, Joey and the rest of the Sandoval family-
I cried the morning I learned of Franks passing on. We have been following his recovery ever since we learned of his injuries in Iraq. My husband, SGT. Kent Bailey deployed with Frank in April 2003 with B 3-18FA. Kent is now back in Iraq, carrying on the fight. We have several photos of Frank in Iraq with 3-18 that I can make copies of if you can give me an address to send them. Michelle, I am so so sorry. The last time I saw you, you were working at walmart and we had a nice talk. I wish that we had been friends and I could've somehow been there for you these last two years. I have been praying for strength and comfort for you and your family. Our family honors PFC OTT and Smoke Philippe from 3-18 every memorial day. I am so sad to add Frank to our list of fallen heroes. I promise that we will not forget his sacrifice, he will not be forgotten, at least not by the Bailey family.
With Love,

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

We can't imagine what you have been going through since being notified of the death of your young Warrior. The Military and families all over the USA and world are grieving with you and praying for you. What a very brave individual you have in your family that would give up a life for their homeland and its people so they can remain free. Your Freedom Fighter has served the Country above and beyond the call of duty, let no one ever tell you different. With the mission now completed your Warrior has been redeployed to Heaven to sit on the right hand of the Supreme Commander and Chief. The Father above has Frank in his arms and will give him peace as well as eventually easing your pain and suffering. God speed to you and SGT Frank M. Sandoval, our HERO. We are so proud of them that are willing to sacrifice for this great Nation, THANK YOU.

To the family of Frank, my grief for the loss of your son is felt. I know what it's like to loose your child in war as my son was killed in action too. It feels that your heart has been ripped from you and you don't understand why this happened to your child. I've felt all you will feel in the coming days and weeks and though I’m not close in relation to area, but I am very close by email. I offer any support to you and your family that I can. It's with the Grace of God that I've gotten through each day and with His healing love and comfort that I've been able to once again sleep at night and not cry each day. Believe me I do know how hard it is. May God continue to heal you and your family and contact me when and if you are ever ready, even if it's to vent or cry.

Sgt. Frank Sandoval and Family:
Know in your heart that you are a true hero and will never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all. Rest in peace. You will be missed by everyone’s life you have touched.
To the family, as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.
