Henry, as I'm sitting here in Kabul, I was thinking about you today, brother. Thinking about me, you, Hank Askins, Brian Smith, and Ellie Perrazoli in command in the 8th Finance in Germany working for Denny Fields, and the good times we had as detachment commanders. Bro, you used to get so fired up at Fields...it was so funny, but it was because you were so passionate, man. We were so young back then...but we were ready to take on the world, full of spit and vinegar. And like everyone else says, you WERE always laughing and smiling, and full of fun. From the bottom of the heart, I miss you, Bro.

We just learned of MAJ Ofeciar's passing. To his family and friends we offer our belated but very heart felt sorrow and prayers.

LT Ofeciar was my husband's Platoon Leader in D Co 4-12 IN, Baumholder, Germany (1995-1996). They deployed to Bosnia in Jan 1996. I remember Henry insisting on meeting at the PX on his R & R to share some of his stories and pictures with me. He was so excited to finally get them developed! His million dollar smile, laugh and giving nature will always be my favorite memories. Oh, and the time he was "volunteered" to be the OIC of the Company Christmas party as a single LT. Every time I would ask if he needed any help I got a big smile, a wink and "it's under control." That was one of the best Company parties ever!!

Rest in peace Henry.

Hank/Sir,

Every day I think of you and your truck crew on that day. When we got the word, I just had prayers for those who were out there. Then we received the word your crew was hit and who may be lost. It could have been any of us, but this day it was your ticket.

I want to say more, but you and your crew are in my prayers. You and your crew are Shipmates and Friends! You are missed!

I just learned that my infantry and finance officer buddy, Maj Ofeciar was killed over 2 years ago. Henry and I were classmates in most of our Army Officer training and over time became very good friends. He even traveled over 8 hours to attend my MBA graduation ceremony in NC and returned to his duty station the same day - what a FRIEND! To that end, he and I had plans to professionally collaborate after his retirement. Henry, I miss you. God Speed and God Bless your wife and Family.

Henry,
We miss you, more than you know. The time we were fortunate enough to be close to you will always be cherished. I have so many memories of you, from saluting you to all of our crazy theme parties that I will never forget and most importantly for being there to listen when I needed an ear. Thank you for making me laugh when you made fun of my long toes, for trying to take a picture when I was sick at the park and for many, many more memories that will always stay with me. Thank you for everything you did and for making all of our lives a little richer, we love you and miss you. I will never forget you, will always think of you and will always wish you were still here. See you in a better place...

Major O was Captain O back when I first met him. He was my Boss, as I liked to call him and I had the honor of serving as his driver during my time at Ft. Carson, Co. He was my first and only true commanding officer, in my mind and in my heart no other officer could ever fill his shoes. I loved him like the older brother I never had but always wanted. He inspired me in so many ways, he taught me so much about life and about being a soldier. He taught me to never settle for second best and challenged me everyday of my military career to be the best. For that I will always be indebted to him. He was a true friend and when we worked together we were the dynamic duo. When you died Boss a part of me died with you. I think of you every day that goes by, and I try to live my life the way I always did at Ft. Carson, to make you proud. You will always be my hero. See you when I see you Boss!

I met Henry at Ft. Riley while we were both training up for the mission in Afghanistan. In country I was able to have dinner with him a couple of times at Camp Phoenix. I heard of his death while I was serving in southern Afghanistan. I will not forget him or the other friends who gave the last full measure of devoted service. As it has been said by veterans of previous wars, the heroes are those that did not come back. His family are in my prayers. Thank You Henry for your service to our country.
