SOUTH BEND - Mary Ann Palus, 75, passed away at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 25, 2008, in Memorial Hospital. Mary Ann was born on July 9, 1933, in South Bend to the late Julius and Lottie (Sroda) Piechorowski. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Joann and a brother, Eugene. On April 19, 1952, Mary Ann married James Palus in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. He survives along with children, David (Marsha) Palus of St. Petersburg, FL, Robert (Rosalyn) Palus of South Bend, Debra (Brian) Emmons of Zionsville, IN, and James (Doreen) Palus Jr. of South Bend; grandchildren, David, Devin, Shaun, Justin, Jessica, Peyton, Adrienne, Erika, Mallory and J.R.; and a great-grandchild, Isabella; sister, Patricia (Edward) Dudzinski of South Bend. Mary Ann worked in the housekeeping department at Notre Dame. She enjoyed sitting outside and getting a sun tan, keeping her yard free of weeds and going window shopping. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Ann Palus Memorial Fund at Teachers Credit Union. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2008, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008, in St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. For those who are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
