Frances VanDerWeele Obituary

ARGOS - Frances Isabelle VanDerWeele, 82, of 422 S. Michigan St., died following a two-week illness at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1st, in Miller's Merry Manor, Plymouth. She was born on April 27, 1926, in Claypool, IN, to the late Dewey and Sarah (Long) King. She lived most of her life in the Argos community. She married Wayne "Skip" J. VanDerWeele on January 16, 1947, in Ft. Wayne. She was a registered nurse working in Battle Creek, MI, and Rockville, MD. She was a member of James Lowell Corey American Legion Post #68 Ladies Auxiliary, attended Argos United Methodist Church, Argos, and the Church of the Brethren, Bradenton, Florida. She graduated from Tippecanoe High School, class of 1944, and then attended Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek, MI. Survivors include her husband, Wayne "Skip" VanDerWeele of Argos; son, William C. VanDerWeele, and wife, Carolyn of Gaithersburg, MD; a daughter, Suzanne Woods, and husband, Tim of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles King, and wife, Faye of Bourbon, IN; several nephews and nieces . She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister Friends may visit with the family on Friday Oct. 3, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in the funeral home, with Elder Tim Woods officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos. Memorial contributions: Argos United Methodist Church, 40 N. Michigan St., Argos, IN 46501; or to the American Lung Association of Indiana, Suite 1180-S, 115 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204 Electronic condolences my be sent to the family at [email protected]. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, Argos, IN.
