Robert Brannon Obituary

Family-Placed Obituary

Robert Ellis Brannon Robert Ellis Brannon of Georgetown was called home to the Lord on December 6, 2004, at the age of 51. He was born in Burnet, Texas, on March 20, 1953. He had many friends and never met a stranger. Robert was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandpa. A true Renaissance-Man, whose love of life encompassed every aspect of his personality. He enjoyed cycling, playing piano and guitar, and studying history. He was an avid ham radio operator (KC5US) and a founding member of HOTERA, (emergency response association). He served on Georgetown's Planning and Zoning Committee from 1996-1999. Perhaps his greatest pastime was aviation. He began flying in 1972 at the age of 19. Robert graduated from Sam Houston State University with a B.S. in Finance. After college, Robert studied at the Rio Grande Bible Institute. Following that, he was employed in the marketing department by Texas Crushed Stone in Georgetown. He then transferred to Georgetown Railroad and later joined Georgetown Rail Equipment Company as Director of Service Planning. In July 2004, Robert began a new career as a financial consultant for New York Life. Robert, a man of strong Christian faith, never hesitated to share his testimony. He was a member of CrossPointe Church and served on the mission board. He took annual trips to Mexico, preaching the Gospel, bringing people to Christ, and supporting the spiritual growth of communities, churches, and working directly with local pastors. Robert is survived by his father, James Brannon of Burnet; wife, Linda; daughters, Angela Martinez and husband Carlos, Anna Woods and husband Craig, Jessica Doramus and husband Darrell; son, Joshua Brannon; sisters, Becky Strother and Rhonda Adams; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Tyler; family and friends. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Student Scholarship Fund (Robert Brannon) at the Rio Grande Bible Institute, 4300 S. Business 281, Edinburg, TX 78539. I want to sincerely express how much it has meant to my children and myself the outpouring and love we received from so many friends and loved ones.

I miss Robert so much...his hugs and his big smile each and every day we walked in the door. He loved, like no one I've ever known.

God Bless,

Linda

I was blessed to be one of Robert's sisters. I have many wonderful memories of Robert. Growing up with him was an adventure of a lifetime that I along with Becky will always treasure. For all that knew Robert were truly blessed to have known him.
