George Orsatti Obituary

George Robert Orsatti George Robert Orsatti, joyfully reunited with his beloved wife, Rosalie, and together they embark on their eternal cruise in Heavenly paradise. Born February 19, 1932 to Louis and Anna Tamaccio Orsatti in Philadelphia, PA, George, determined to become a Texan, joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 stationed at Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio. He proudly served as Sergeant in the Korean War, and entertained his fellow troops as drummer in the 75th Air Depot Wing Dance Band. It was in San Antonio where he met the only woman to capture his heart, Rosalie Carmen Guido. They married and opened Bella Donna Coiffures, a popular full-service beauty salon. When not making San Antonio women beautiful, George continued playing drums in dance bands, and hosted and guest starred on local radio and television shows. He used his talents to teach hair styling and color chemistry and lectured for Wella International and Redken Laboratories. In 1977, he moved his family to Austin and joined Armstrong McCall Beauty Supply and later Redken Distributor Associates to produce statewide educational events for Texas cosmetologists. George's other accomplishments include: Member of the 75th Air Depot Wing, Confederate Air Force, VFW Post 4443, Lone Star Chapter of Military Vehicle Preservation Association, creator of "On The Cutting Edge" newsletter dedicated to continuing education of beauty industry professionals, advisor to Texas Cosmetology Commission, Volunteer and Treasurer for Brackenridge Hospital Auxiliary, and Travis County Precinct Voting Official. Loved ones left to carry on George's legacy include his daughter, Annette Orsatti Perrone and husband Terry; son, Louis George Orsatti and wife Debra; daughter, Donna Orsatti Valdez and husband Rick; and those who affectionately call him "Grandpa, George, and Godfather"; his adoring grandchildren, Nathan, Macy, Timothy, Michael and Matthew Perrone; Ryan and Matthew Orsatti; Erica and Joey Valdez. A heartfelt thank you to Lani, Consie and Cecile at Shady Hollow for their exceptional loving care, and to Nurse Mary, Chaplain Raymond and the staff of Vista Care Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2009, with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2009 at San Francesco Di Paola Church, 205 Piazza Italia in San Antonio, Texas. Entombment will follow at Mission Park North. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the University of Texas College of Education George Robert Orsatti Scholarship Fund, mail to Karl Miller, College of Education, #1 University Station, D5000, Austin, Texas 78712, (512) 471-8178.

We were passing by the George R. Brown a few days ago, and shared a found, humor filled remembrance of George running his crew of cameramen during one of the many Hair shows he produced, directed, and stared in for AMCO. Its such a good thing that we remember and honor him.

George was a wonderful friend to me. He worked with my mom and I at early voting for quite a while and he always treated me like a son. He was someone I looked up to with the highest esteem

Annette and Family, Although I did not know your Dad, because I know you--he must have been a wonderful person. I know that Ronnie received "joy" from just spending time with your Dad. May your memories continue to give you joy and your faith give you peace. ttb

Annette,
Condolences to you and your family. Though we know and understand that the separation is temporary it does not diminish our loss when loved ones pass on.
Thank you for letting me know.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We are sad to hear about the passing of your dear grandfather and father. We know that words right now can not fill the spot that is left vacant with his passing. We hope you know how much we love you and aprreciate your influences in our lives. May the Lord bless you with peace at this time as you reflect on a wonderful man and the memories made with each of you. Know of our love and support for you. We have you in our prayers.

Mr. and Mrs. Orsatti were such sweet people. I will always remember how they would come to the USAA Craft Show in San Antonio to display and sell Mrs. Orsatti's beautiful arrangements. As a young child growing up I saw how they were very much in love throughout the entirety of their marriage. I'm glad that they are together again--only this time, they will never have to be apart!

I always thought your Dad was an amazing man. He had such a talent to run the show. I enjoyed getting to know both your Mom and Dad thru the years. I know that they will be missed. Our love goes out to you and your family at this time.

Mr. Orsatti was a mentor to me when I was a young beauty supply salesman for Armstrong-McCall. Watching him educate and work with hairdressers taught me what "relationship" selling was all about. He knew that for us to be successful, we needed to help our customer, the hairdresser, achieve success. He so loved and honored the beauty industry. I will always remember him with great respect.
He called himself "The Hair Doctor"...he was that, and so much more.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Annette, I was saddened when I read of your father's passing. His journey here has ended but he will now spend eternity with his Savior and his love, your mother. Remember, he has not gone to a better place, he has gone to "the best" place. You and your family are in my prayers. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
Love,
Connie

I remember George when he had his radio talk show. I was a young hairdresser and was awed by his knowledge. I later got to know George personally and he was truly a very refined and well bred man.
It was a pleasure to know him.

George, thank you so much for such wonderful memories of my childhood! -- from my first hair cut to the radio announcements of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and Santa Clauses' whereabouts on Christmas Eve for "Teeny Tiny" and me. We had so much fun! I could mention a dozen more. We love you and will miss you, but you will always be with us.

George and Rosalie were a generous and hospitable couple. Kay and I worked with them both at Brackenridge Hospital Gift Shop and they were among the finest volunteers and/or workers we were priviledge to serve with. We enjoyed dining with them and considered them good friends. Their family has our deepest sympathy and they should be very proud of their legacy.
