Anthony Monday Obituary

Anthony Scott Monday Anthony Scott Monday died on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at age 48. He was born in Houston to John and Anne Monday and was raised in New Braunfels. He settled permanently in Austin after attending UT. Tone was well-known in the music business, specializing in sound and lighting equipment design for entertainment venues, bands and events, both here and abroad. He was passionate about all things automotive, either behind the wheel or under the hood. He was a skilled driver and loved rock climbing with his soul-mate Lisa in his SUVs. He was featured on TV about his 4-wheel adventures in Moab, Utah. Tone was especially excited about an upcoming trip to Florida with friends for a Ferrari racing event. Tone was gifted with his hands and mind in many ways, but more importantly with his heart. He is an unforgettable man to those who encountered him, who knew him, who he helped and to those who loved him deeply: there are so many. He is survived by his daughter, Jordan; sister and brother, Pamela (PJ) and Johnny; nephews, Billy and Jeff; as well as the many friends to whom his family is so grateful they were a part of Tone's life. The family will receive friends Saturday, March at 1:00 p.m. at Remembrance Gardens, 4214 N. Capital of TX Hwy (Loop 360).

To J Brockman's point about how Tone will show himself thru music: my sister tells me she was at HEB, and of all things, near the jalapeno's. Her theme song for her brother is the song " He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother. Pamela says she rarely listens to music in stores, but sure enough, she heard that song right there. She knew it was her brother calling to her.

Dear friends and family of Tone:

I once read, "Good men must die, but death cannot kill their names." (Proverb)

This proverb definitely applies to the life and passing of Tone. His name will forever be inextricably linked to thoughts of compassion, generosity, humor, altruism, and goodness. His mastery of all things mechanical has undoubtedly left its mark upon the world; a broad mark, of which we may never fully appreciate.

Of course, he is not with us in body, now. However, his spirit is peacefully drifting among us, even now, as we mourn his death. I pray that we can all absorb some small sense of comfort from that fact. Look for him in your daily lives, and you will signs of Tone. He would not have been one to go "peacefully into the night." He will show himself to us in simple and ordinary ways. Be sure to listen for music; music of all kinds, for that was how he passionately spoke, while alive.

Have a magical, wonderful ride, Tone.

Tone Monday was a dear friend. Steady as a rock, generous to a fault, and funny. The world today is not quite as bright without him spinning on it with us. Thanks Tone for being a great guy.

I am Tone's sister, and just left a post. In my computer-challenged state, I don't think I left a contact email address. (Tone was always trying to teach me how to do it right!) Here is my email address, attached to "contact me" space. PJ

My friendship with Tone was one of a kind. We became the best of friends in 1980 while working at the Airport. I will cherish the memories of all the good times, adventures, and growing up we did along with the heartaches we shared with each other through out the years that followed. Eventho we drifted apart with the paths we each took with our marriages, kids, and life in general, when we did meet up again it was has if time had stood still. I am so thankful to have reconnected with Tone again, we had joked about seeing Bruce Springsteen again after ALL these years. I will keep his family in my prayers. I just can not express in words how grateful I am to have had such a special person in my life. I truly don't think I would be the person I am today if it were not for Tone being in my life. Tone, I hope you are at peace and I am sure I will see you again. Love, Sally

I'll never forget Tone. There was this way about him. It's Hard to explain. To me, he was bold, honest and gave me a sense of trust. He was also very human and a lot of fun to talk to and to hang out with. But, honestly, words can't really describe it.

My prayers go out for his family and friends.

May others be so lucky as to know someone like Tone.

To the Family of my friend Tone,
I met Tone for the first time in May of 06', in Moab Utah.
I was new to the world of off road adventure...he went out of his way to make myself & the rest of the "noobs" in attendance that year, feel welcome, & much less awkward. He & I became fast friends, & the next year, it was as if no time had elapsed between our meetings, we just picked right up where we left off the previous year.
I'm gonna miss my buddy Tone, he was one of a kind & touched so many people in such a positive way.

My sincere condolences to all of his Family.
