Libby Minium Obituary

Longview resident Libby Michelle Davis Minium, 26, was tragically taken from this life, along with her boyfriend, Zachary Waddle, August 9, 2008 in Cloverdale, OR as a result of an accident. She was born January 9, 1982 in Longview to Greg and Linda (Trochim) Minium. She graduated from R.A. Long High School in 2000.

Libby worked for the Parks and Recreation Dept. in Longview, the YMCA in Tacoma, and was a member of the Cowlitz AmeriCorps Network, where she shared her gift of working with children. Libby was artistically talented. She expressed her creative spirit and deep thoughts through her drawings and photographs. She found inspiration in the relationships she had with those who loved her. Libby was very close to her family, spending time with them was so important. Libby enjoyed the time she spent with Zach and Mason running their dog Mac at Willow Grove and fishing in Zach's new boat on the Cowlitz River. Her happiest day was August 20, 2007, when she and Zach became parents of Mason Joe; he survives her at home.

She is also survived by her parents, Linda and Greg Minium and a sister, Emily Minium all of Longview; grandparents, June and Buck Trochim of Kelso; great grandmother, Margaret Dulmage of Tacoma; aunts and uncles, Ed and Shawn Trochim, DarIa and Rob Gudgell, Phil and Janet Trochim, and Jon Minium; and cousins, Tasia, Amanda, Katie, Rhein, Kadyn, Sarah and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mack and Audree Minium and cousin, Rebecca.

A funeral will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 15, 2008 at Longview Community Church. Internment will follow at Longview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an account for Mason's education at Fibre Federal Credit Union. Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Please sign the guest book at www.tdn.com/obits.

Minium Family,

I and deeply sorry for your loss, I know this one year anniversary will be a hard time for you. I am greatful you have little Mason to keep you going. I keep up with his life through Patti, whom I work with. I will forever remember Libby's sweet smile the time she was in our office.

Dear Minium Family,

I just now heard the horrible news about Libby. I am so sorry for your loss. My heart is breaking for you! I will be praying for God's perfect peace to fill your hearts.

The most memorable thing about Libby for me was her smile! When she was just a little girl (when Emily and I played softball together) it seemed that Libby ALWAYS had a smile on her face. She was such a happy child!

She will be missed.

Linda, Greg and Emily, Ricky and my heart has been hurting since we got the sad news. Libby has always been a part of our family and always will be along with Zach and Mason. The time that our family has spent with Libby at home, camping and just anywhere, will never end. We loved that girl and always will. We are here if you ever need us. Love ya Libby. Oh the boys at Riffe are all the same but just a little bit older....Oh what fun you and Amy had....Never will be forgotten...

Dear Minium Family,
I worked with Libby at The Pet Works. We also were friends and did things outside of work. She was one of the most wonderful women I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I always thought we'd connect again. My heart breaks for the loss of not knowing her the past several years. I have not had a comparable friendship since. Her humor and her beauty will always be remembered. I will never forget her.

When a woman loses her husband she is a widow. When a husband loses his wife he is a widower. There are no words for a parent that loses a child. I am so deeply sad for your tragic loss. Libby is a light that will shine brightly forever.

Libby,
It breaks our hearts not having you here right now. We were so happy that you and Zach got together. We gained another friend. You were a wonderful mother and it was so obvious that you loved Mason more than anything. We will make every effort to show Mason what kind of people his parents are. We will also do our very best to help take care of him. We hope that Mason and Logan grow up to be as good of friends as we are. I will make sure to take as many pictures as possible to carry on your wonderful picture taking. I will now be the designated camera holder. I will also show Mason how crafty his mother was by carring on your lovely scrapbooking ability. We love you with all our hearts.

There can't be anything more painfull than losing a child, especially one who had so much to look forward to. Libby was a great little gal, she always had a smile and a hug for me...and she helped me with my ceramic painting deficencies. Libby and Zach were such a cute couple and so loving to Mason. When you look at him you can see Libby looking right back at you.
We are as close as a phone call should you ever need anything!
Love you guys,

p.s. I would also like to apply for the position of step-grandad ,,, I promise to be loving (with a bit of teasing), gentle (but firm), and all the other grandpa jobs like teaching him words like "abra-ka-dabra poof ", telling him jokes, and getting him wet with my new squirt gun.

Dear Libby,
I have known you your whole life, and your mother almost twice that long, and I must say, you have the most beautiful smile and *dimples*. I've been blessed knowing you and thank you for being my daughter's friend. Just seeing you smile made me smile. I remember when you and Jaime were babies and played on the floor together. (Or should I say, Rambo, loved to wrestle) You are a great gal and will be missed more than word's can express. Love ya Libster and I am here for your mom, dad, sister and Mason.
God Bless.

Linda, Greg, and family,
My heart aches for you all and your huge loss! I can't begin to imagine what you must be going through right now. Libby was a wonderful gal! Even though it has been a few years since we have spoken to Libby, I will always remember her playing with my children Alicia and Ryan, when they were young. She was always happy and fun to be around. Linda and Greg did a great job raising her and I know that they are very proud of all her accomplishments. I haven't met Mason, but I can imagine that he also has that same infectious smile as his mother. Linda and Greg will do a fine job raising him as well. Take care and love to all!
