Leo DerKosrofian

Leo DerKosrofian, 82, of Greenwood St., died Tues., April 1, 2008 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was the husband of Mary (Tomasian) DerKosrofian.

Mr. DerKosrofian owned and operated Leo's Wallpaper Center in Linwood for over 15 years. He had previously managed Aubuchon's Hardware, Whitinsville.

He was born in Whitinsville, the son of the late Mikael and Vartouhi DerKosrofian and was a graduate of Northbridge High School. He was Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion – Worcester Post.

He was a founding member of the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church in Whitinsville and served as chairman of the first Board of Trustees. He had also served on the church's original building committee. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his adoring granddaughters.

In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by a son, Michael L. DerKosrofian and his wife Michelle M. of Charlton; a sister, Thelma Kooyomjian of W. Boylston; two brothers: Diran M. DerKosrofian and Levon DerKosrofian, both of Whitinsville; two granddaughters, including Emily Mullen DerKosrofian and Cassidy Mary DerKosrofian; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Fri., April 4, 2008 at 11 AM in the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.

Visiting hours will be Thurs., April 3, 2008 from 6 – 8 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 480 Church St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church St., Whitinsville, MA 01588.
