William Burke Goodwin

William Burke Goodwin, 83, of Oriol Drive in Worcester, passed away, Monday, March 31, 2008, in Autumn Village Nursing Facility. "Bill" was born on November 22, 1924 to Thomas Burke and Josephine (Fraser) Goodwin. He attended South High School and graduated in the Spring of 1943. He then entered the United States Army where he served in the 9th Army Air Corps, was promoted to Sergeant and served his country in the European Theatre During World War II. Following World War II, he attended Fordham University for two years and later transferred to and graduated from Saint Bonaventure University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree on June 3, 1951. Bill worked as a Purchasing Agent for Riley Stoker, Mechanics Bank, and City Hospital. In his later years Bill helped out at the Pernet Family Health Services.

Bill leaves three sons, Mark Goodwin of Euless, Texas, David Goodwin of Ayer, MA, and Paul Goodwin of Las Cruces, NM; three granddaughters, Katie Goodwin of Grafton, MA, Alexia Goodwin of Las Cruces, NM, and Sarah Goodwin of Euless, Texas; his baby sister, Pat Reardon of Worcester; also many nieces and nephews. Bill was pre-deceased in death by his younger sister, Mary Johnson of Worcester.

A memorial Mass will be held Friday, April 4, at 1 p.m. in Saint Peter's Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pernet Family Health Services, 237 Millbury Street, Worcester, MA 01610.
