Rita Conety Obituary

Rita M. (Lambos) Conety of Worcester passed away peacefully on April 2, 2008 at UMASS Hospital surrounded by her family.

She leaves three children: Michael Conety and his wife Cheryl, Kathleen Ustinovich, and Colleen Conety, all of Worcester. She also leaves six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as one sister, Barbara Bigelow, and several nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Conety, three brothers; Clayton, Joseph, and Arthur Lambos, and her son-in-law, Andrew Ustinovich, who died last year.

Rita was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of George and Bernadette (Richards) Lambos. She was athletic in her youth and enjoyed playing sports. She worked various jobs and was a member of the USO before marrying and becoming a devoted mother and homemaker.

Rita was a proud and generous woman who put her faith in God and her love of family above all else. She was a longtime member of the MSPCA and the Humane Society. "Grammy" a.k.a. "Great Mother" was an inspiration to us all.

In accordance with the family's wishes, there are no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or, for her love of animals, to a local rescue shelter. For directions and on-line condolences please visit:

Gram,
I am gonna miss you very much i love u with all my heart i have so many memories of u i will never forget until i meet again one day, my fondest memories is when i used to sleep over your house and we would lay in your bed and listen to the talk shows on the radio and right before i would fall asleep you would sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" to me until i would fall asleep of course that didnt take very long because by the sound of your voice i would fall asleep almost instantly. I dont want to keep you if you could just let Daddy know that i said Hi! and that We love and miss him! Also he has another Grandaughter on the way.
