David Hageman Obituary

David L. Hageman, 69, formerly of Grafton, passed away on May 23, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Jackie (Barren) Hageman, two daughters, Christina Pontbriand and her husband Barry of Spencer and Maria McVey and her husband Jay of Golden, CO, two granddaughters, Alex and Alta, two grandsons, Dennis and Colin and two step grandsons Barry and Bradley. He also leaves three sisters, Elaine Jackson of Kansas City, MO, Ruth Mart of Armstrong, IA and Jean Webster of Huntsville, MO and a brother, Jon Hageman of Moberly, MO and several nieces and nephews.

David was born February 9, 1939 in Armstrong, IA the son of Albert and Vera (Ankrum) Hageman. He was a proud Navy veteran serving from 1958 to 1963 and his squadron was honored for their service during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a fervent salesman for most of his adult life and continued selling his own line of soybean candles part time after his retirement in 2001. He was a life long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed several trips with his family as they followed the team together.

A memorial service for David will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 7 pm at Roney Funeral Home of Grafton, North Chapel, 152 Worcester Street in North Grafton. All are invited to a visitation from 5 - 7 pm on Wednesday May 28th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Florida at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. A condolence book and directions are available at
