Dorothy Valente Obituary

Dorothy P. (Thomas) Valente, life long resident of Shrewsbury died Wednesday, June 4th in the Stanley Tippett Home in Needham after an illness.

Her husband, Frank Valente died in 1990. She is survived by her only son, William P. Alicandro, Sr. and his wife, Darlene of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Clara Petty of Barre and Barbara Bachelor of Newburyport; also survived by five grandchildren, Stephanie, William Jr., Sherri, Kimberly, and C.J., and was predeceased by a granddaughter, Angela.

She was born in Worcester and raised in Shrewsbury, daughter of the late Emil M. and Mary J. (Danska) Thomas. Dorothy excelled in high school and graduated from New England School of Accounting. She proudly served her country with the United States Air Corp during World War II. When Dorothy returned from the Military, she had worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in the local area. Later in life she dappled in the Real Estate market and became a Real Estate Broker. When she finally encountered the love of her life, her husband Frank, she took on the position of Office Manger and Bookkeeper for his business, the Henley Lundgren Companies for several years. Dorothy had many things dear to her, first and most importantly was her family. Secondly, she had a green thumb and enjoyed patiently watching everything that she planted grow, and finally, she had a great passion to always be shopping.

At her request, Dorothy's services were held privately for her family. Her burial took place in Mountain View Cemetery next to her beloved husband Frank.
