Elizabeth Marengo Obituary

Elizabeth E. "Betty" (Roberts) Marengo, 87, of Upton, died Thurs., June 12, in Beaumont Nursing Center in Northbridge after a period of declining health. The widow of Robert Marengo, who died in 2000, she was previously married to Alvin P. Nichols from 1963 until his death in 1995. Her first husband, Ernest M. Weinert, died in 1962 after 22 years of marriage.

Mrs. Marengo was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Nelson and Isabelle (Lawrence) Roberts. She lived in Northbridge before coming to Upton in 1963 and had worked as a bookkeeper for Upton Fuel and Construction for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Upton Grange, Uxbridge Grange, Upton Bloomer Girls, Upton Historical Society, and the Friends of Upton Elders, and attended the Blackstone Valley Community Church in Whitinsville.

She leaves her daughter-in-law, Arlene Weinert of Whitinsville; three granddaughters and their husbands: Heidi and John Peterson of Louisville, KY, Melissa and Marc Boucher and Robin and Jamie Giampietro, all of Whitinsville; and nine great-grandchildren. Her son, Robert M. Weinert of Whitinsville, died in 2006.

Funeral services will be held Mon. at 11 a.m. in the Williams-Pedersen Funeral Home, 45 Main St., Upton. Burial will follow in Riverdale Cemetery in Northbridge. A calling hour at the funeral home will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Mon. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Blackstone Valley Community Church, Box 53, Northbridge 01534.
