Edith Plantinga

Edith (VanderBrug) Plantinga, 95 of Heritage Drive went to be with her Lord and Savior Tues., June 17, 2008 in the St. Camillus Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Oliver H. Plantinga who died in March 1974.

Mrs. Plantinga, in her early years, had once been employed by the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville.

Born in Whitinsville June 12, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Dirk and Hinke (Haringa) VanderBrug. Mrs. Plantinga attended school in Uxbridge and had resided in Whitinsville since 1947.

Mrs. Plantinga was a member of the Immanuel Chapel of Upton and had been a former longtime member of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville where she was active with the Women's Missionary Society.

Mrs. Plantinga is survived by two sons, Harold O. and his wife Barbara Plantinga of Whitinsville and Ronald J. and his wife Roxie Plantinga of Northbridge; two daughters, Helena J. and her husband Glen Bloem and Karen J. and her husband Earl Wielsma all of Whitinsville; a twin sister, Pauline Bosma of Whitinsville; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and 2 special friends, Aletta Kuipers and Alie Rooker. She was predeceased by three brothers, Henry VanderBrug , Carl VanderBrug, and Edward VanderBrug and one sister, Henderika Koopman.

A funeral service will be held Fri., June 20, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Fairlawn Christian Reformed Church, 305 Goldthwaite Rd., Whitinsville. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Northbridge. Visiting hours will be Thurs., June 19, 2008 from 5-8 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 480 Church St., Whitinsville.
