Vincent Perez Obituary

Vincent J. Perez, 92, of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, June 18th in his home.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise E. (Biggio) Perez; two sons, Thomas J. Perez and his wife, Victoria R. Perez of Worcester and Dr. Mark R. Perez and his wife, Gloria Perez of Olney, Maryland; four grandchildren, Lisa M. Perez, Peter N. Perez, Steven Grimes and Eric Grimes; also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, and great grand nieces and great grand nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Dominick Perez and a sister, Victoria Perez.

Vincent was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Ernest and Elisa (Possidente) Perez and had lived in Shrewsbury for the past 56 years. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester and Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in Waltham. Mr. Perez served his country first as a non-commissioned officer and then was commissioned in October 1943 as a bombardier-navigator in the United States Army Air Corps. He served in the European Theater and participated in the Normandy Invasion on D-Day. Vincent was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal with Four Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Unit Badge with One Oak Leaf Cluster and several other group citations. Mr. Perez worked for the Federal government as an IRS Agent for over 30 years, in the Worcester, Boston and Framingham Offices. He was also a senior revenue agent instructor for many years. He was a life member of the DAV; VFW, and was a member of the Victor R. Quaranta Post # 397 American Legion in Shrewsbury. He also was a member of NARFE; a former 4th Degree member of the Bishop O'Reilly Assembly Knights of Columbus and was a faithful member of Saint Mary's Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Vincent's family on Monday, June 23rd from 9:00-10:30 AM in the Britton - Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will follow and be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA. Burial with Military Honors will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
