Carl Eklund Obituary
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Dorothy M. (Jamieson) Eklund; his two sons, Donald C. Eklund of Wellesley, and Jon T. Eklund of Auburn; several nieces and nephews, and two Godchildren, Shari and Eric. He was predeceased by his four sisters, Blenda St. Jean, Evelyn Novick, Ruby Manseau, and Astrid Stromberg.
He was born in Auburn, son of the late John and Anna (Hanson) Eklund and has lived here all of his life. He was a proud Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 4th Army Division in Europe. He received a Purple Heart Medal.
Mr. Eklund was a machinist & toolmaker, and later a foreman for the Thomas Smith Company in Worcester for 45 years prior to retiring. He enjoyed his gardening and his home workshop, and camping.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday June 20th from 6-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral service will be held on Saturday June 21st at 9 AM in the funeral home, followed by burial with Military Honors in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Auburn Renovation Fund, 120 Central Street, Auburn, MA 01501. For directions or to leaves a message of sympathy for Carl's family, please visit
