Robert Fournier Obituary

Robert H. Fournier, 75, a lifelong resident of Holden, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2008 in the presence of his loving family at Saint Vincent Hospital, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the son of Joseph H. and Alice H.M. (Larson) Fournier.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, Nancy R. (Pearsall) Fournier; a daughter, Lisa A. Kowaleski and her husband Michael, and their sons, Alexander J. and Nicholas R. Kowaleski all of Grafton; two sisters, Shirley M. Rotti and her husband Bernard P. of Sterling and Linda L. Friedman and her husband Robert of Jefferson; two sisters-in-law, Elinor C. Lamberton of Holden and Carol M. Fournier of Rindge, NH; many nephews, nieces and cousins. A sister, Jean A. Hallstrom and a brother, The Rev. Ronald J. Fournier, predeceased him.

Robert was a graduate of Holden High School and Worcester Junior College. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict serving with the 66th CIC group. He worked many years for Automotive Management, Inc. including Natick Auto Sales and Harr Motor Co. locations. Previously he worked for Sunnyside Motors. He served as acting fire chief of the Holden volunteer fire dept. before the appointment of a fulltime chief. Mr. Fournier was a member of the Harold N. Keith American Legion Post 204 in West Boylston and the Greendale Retired Men's Club in Worcester. He loved his family, their traditions and celebrations, gardening, antiquing, ocean fishing, and New England sports. In addition to being a Patriot's fan, he also loved his nephew's football team - the Green Bay Packers.

Robert's family would like to thank the staff at the Saint Vincent Hospital Oncology Unit for their kind and compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
