Anthony Genatossio Obituary

Anthony P. Genatossio, 85, of Worcester died June 25, 2008 at Knollwood Nursing Home after a 7 year battle with dementia and Parkinson's disease.

Anthony leaves his wife of 17 years, Josephine Locantore (Monfreda); his 3 sons, Anthony and his wife Patricia of Auburn, Carlo, his Court Appointed Guardian, and his wife Nina of Holden and Stephen and his wife Lisa of Somersworth, NH and his five beloved grandchildren, Kelly, Patrick, Shana, Thomas and Mika Genatossio. Anthony also leaves his sisters, Antoinette Genatossio and Julia Zona; his brothers, Frank and Louie Genatossio; his brother-in-law, Leo Caprioli; his sister-in-law, Teresa Caprioli Geofredo and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Genatossio was born in Worcester, son of Carlo and Caroline (Pasquale) Giannattosio. His wife Mary (Caprioli) died September 26, 1989, a few weeks after celebrating their 41st wedding anniversary. In addition to Anthony's parents and wife Mary, four brothers: Lawrence, Philip "Red", Domenic and Leo and three sisters: Mary Genatossio, Lucy Morrissey, and Anna Toloczko predeceased him.

Mr. Genatossio had worked construction for most of his life. He also spent a number of years working for the family ice, coal and oil business.

He was a WWII veteran having served in South Pacific Theater of New Guinea and the Philippines.

During his lifetime, Anthony had been a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and Our Lady of Loreto Church. He was a member of Local 4 and the American Legion.

Mr. Genatossio's family would like to thank both Elder Services in Worcester and Knollwood Nursing Home for securing and providing for Tony's care.

Britton Wallace Funeral Home in Auburn is directing arrangements.

There will be no calling hours. Family members and friends are invited to gather on Monday, June 30th at 11 AM at the Mausoleum of Saint John's Cemetery in Worcester, MA for the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Massachusetts Veteran's Shelter, Attn: Vincent J. Perrone, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or to St. John's Church, Food for the Poor, 44 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604.

I am sorry for your loss.Your Dad was another great guy along with the rest of his brothers .I am happy that before my Dad passed he and your Dad had some of the best visits together.Their bonds of blood and brotherhood truly belong to a generation of selfless men. They both worked the Ice and Coal business and both served in the South Pacific.It is with much fondness that I think of him and the rest of you.Take comfort in his peace and his love of all of you.
