Nelson LeCour Obituary

Nelson J. LeCour, Jr., of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, June 25th in Saint Vincent Hospital, in Worcester, after an illness.

He leaves his children, Nelson J. LeCour, III of Francistown, New Hampshire and Darlene E. Goll and her husband, John of Boston; a brother, Frederick LeCour of Ware; two sisters, Florence Bergquist and Mary Louise LaRiviere both of Shrewsbury; his adoring grandson, John Michael Goll III, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a bother, Francis LaCour and a sister, Elaine Rayburn and a step-son, Douglas M. LaRoche.

Mr. LeCour was born in Manhattan, New York son of the late Joseph N. and Rose (Cartier) LeCour and was raised in Shrewsbury where he spent most of his life. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School and Worcester Junior College. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during two wars, World War II aboard the destroyer USS Lang and then stateside during the Korean War. Nelson had worked as a Truck Driver with an impeccable driving record for Roadway Express, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of faithful and dedicated service. He enjoyed spending time with his entire family especially with his new 7 month old grandson, John Michael. Nelson loved music and had an extensive music collection in his home. He also was a self taught guitarist. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #170 in Worcester, a member of the Shrewsbury Sportsmen's Club and a former member of the VFW.

Private funeral services will be held for Mr. LeCour on Monday, June 30th. Darlene, John, and John Michael, I was so sad to learn of your dad's passing. When seeing him - he gave with his heart so fully, and beamed around you, his only daughter. He lived life the way he wanted. I'll be sad driving by his home knowing he's not there.
