Edwin Bannister Obituary

Edwin B. Bannister, 76, of Chase Road died Monday, June 23, 2008 at his home.

He was the beloved husband of the late Alice "Peach" (Talbot) Bannister for 56 years. Born in Sutton, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Eva M. (Bergeron) Bannister and Peter LeFebvre.

Edwin attended Worcester Boys Trade School and worked many years as a foreman at Dowd Box, and later Owens-Illinois in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was a motorcycle enthusiast in the central Massachusetts area for many years.

Edwin is survived by a son, Wade B. Bannister of Thompson; two daughters, Carol A. Freeman of Sutton, MA, and Cathy L. Dykstra of Putnam; a brother, Albert Bannister of Dudley, MA; four grandchildren, Marc Freeman of Athol, MA, Maureen Hilton of Townsend, MA, Matthew Freeman of Fitchburg, WI, and Jonathan Sykes of Dudley, MA; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda (Bannister) Sykes; and three sisters, Mabel Zylinski, Viola "Dolly" Champagne, and Claire Lemanski.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Edwin's family from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Sunday, June 29, 2008 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. Burial will be private.
