Mary Berry Obituary

Mary Helen (McCue) Berry, 87, formerly of Worcester, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at home, after a long illness.

Joseph C. Berry, her husband of 53 years and a longtime Worcester Police officer, died in 1997. She leaves two daughters, Pauleen Cesaitis-Hurley and her husband Paul Hurley, with whom she lived, and Ann Marie Ramsey Mason of Webster; two grandchildren, Paul Cesaitis Jr. and Gina Marie Ramsey, both of Worcester. She was predeceased by a brother, Francis B. McCue.

Helen was born in Worcester, daughter of F. Edward and Nora E. (Hagney) McCue and lived most of her life in Worcester until moving to Spencer ten years ago. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade School. She was a nurse's aide at the Holden Nursing Home for many years. She was also a longtime volunteer for the Age Center of Worcester. Her family would like to thank VNA Hospice for the skilled and compassionate care they provided Helen, especially Tracy Johnson and Sandy DeCarlo.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester 01608. Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
