Marguerite Labier Obituary

Marguerite J. (Bane) Labier, 94, of Ludlow passed away Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Wingate at Wilbraham in the presence of her family. She was born in Rodessa, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Kelly and Rose Bane.

She was raised in Farmington, West Virginia where she attended local schools. Marguerite attended Fairmont State Business College and Bocker Business College, both in Ravenna, Ohio. She resided in Ludlow the past several years and was very proud of having traveled to every state with the exception of Alaska. Over the years, she was employed at Westinghouse, Texas Instruments and Smith and Wesson Corporations. Marguerite volunteered her sewing talents at Shriner's Hospital and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Supreme Council, Daughters of the Nile Ahlem Temple, Ludlow Golden Agers and the Moose Lodge #1489 in Chicopee Falls, MA. She enjoyed needlework and tatting and gave her finished products to her relatives and friends. She loved bingo and her trips to the casino.

Marguerite was pre-deceased by her first husband, Irving DeBerry and her son Herman James DeBerry and her brothers, Fred, Edward and Harry Bane. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Labier; a sister in law, Ellen Labier of Springfield, MA; her cousins and care givers, Jeanne Mendala and her husband Francis of North Brookfield, MA and Lorraine Chisholm of Brookfield, MA; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Myrna Roscoe of Los Angeles, CA.

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, July 7, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Rd., Springfield, MA, to be followed by a funeral home service at 12noon concluding with Rites of Committal and Burial at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam, MA. Memorial donations in Marguerite's memory may be sent to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
