Stanley Rodominick Obituary

Stanley Rodominick, 87, of South Grafton, died peacefully on July 5, 2008, in the Beaumont Nursing Center in Northbridge, surrounded by his loving family, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Stanley leaves his loving wife of 59 years, Lucille G. (Brodeur) Rodominick; his two sons, Steven E. Rodominick and John S. and his wife Sandra Rodominick; a sister, Mary Barnes of South Grafton; four grandchildren, Michelle, Jarrod, Jaime, and Justin Rodominick, a God-Daughter and niece, Donna Holloway; a nephew, Ronald Lemoine, and several nieces and close friends. Stanley was born in Middletown, CT, son of the late Edward and Julia Rodominick, and lived in South Grafton for the past 83 years. Stanley worked at the former Whitin Machine Works for 42 years before he retired. He then worked for his son at Steve's Auto Supply in Millbury for 10 years.

Stanley proudly served his country with the Navy Seabees in the 1st and 5th naval construction battalions during World War II. He spent four years in New Hebrides and the Philippines in the South Pacific and Port Hueneme in California. Stanley played baseball for St. James and The Polish Tigers from South Grafton. During the war he played against baseball's Hall-of-Famers Bob Feller and Phil Rizzuto. After the war, he played in the Blackstone Valley League. He was also a true Red Sox fan. Stanley was a long-time member of St. James parish in South Grafton and was active with the Knights of Columbus, Grafton Little League, and Boy Scout Troop 112. Stanley was a very kind, helpful, dedicated and patient man. His first joy was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and time spent with his son's dog, Molly.

All are invited to the celebration of Stanley's funeral Mass at St. James Church, 89 Main St., South Grafton Wednesday, July 9th at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 8th from 5-8 p.m. at Roney Funeral Home, South Chapel, 124 Main St., South Grafton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Stanley, to the St James Church Memorial Fund, 89 Main St., S. Grafton, MA 01560, or to The Alzheimer's Association, 36 Cameron Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140. A condolence book and directions are available at:

Our condolences go out to the family. I remember your dad from way back at the garage. He lived a long life (seven years past my dad) although his last probably weren't up to his standards. Sorry for your loss.

John, Sandy, Jaime and family,

Our deepest sympathies go out to you on the death of your father, grandfather, and loved one.
Jaime has talked of her grandfather on many occasions sharing recollections of her grandpa. I know
you will miss him - but know that he
is now with our Heavenly Father.
My God grant you his love and give you strength to carry on. May your memories will be a guiding source of hope in days ahead.
Always, Barry and Sheryl Cushman
and family
