Leslie Kent Obituary

Leslie R. Kent, 76, of North Oxford and formerly of East Islip, New York died peacefully Monday, July 7 in his daughters' home surrounded by his children, after a long battle with colon cancer.

His wife Joan M. (O'Rourke) Kent died May 30th. He leaves five sons Robert A. Kent and his wife Delores of San Angelo, TX, Steven L. Kent and his wife Patricia of Oneonta, New York, David L. Kent and his wife Susan of Keene, New Hampshire, William F. Kent and his wife Karen of Charlton, and Richard L. Kent of Middle Grove, New York, four daughters Judith A. Durso and her husband Eugene of Leicester, Janet M. Sestokas and her husband Frank of Leicester, Mary Ellen Cerbone and her husband Anthony of Manorville, New York, and Jennifer Kent and her husband Brian Walters of Brooklyn, New York, two sisters Edith Ryan of East Islip, New York, and Carolyn Scira of McDonough, New York, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kent was born in New York, New York son of Leon and Irene S. (Thayer) Kent. He was a machinist & welder at General Applied Science Laboratories in New York retiring in 1992, previously he was a millwright for the local 740 Carpenters Union in New York. He was a member of St. Pius X Church and the Leicester Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed building model airplanes and hunting.

The funeral will be held Friday, July 11 from MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be Saturday at 11:00 AM in Queen of All Saints Cemetery, Central Islip, New York. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
