Nema S. Gallagher

Nema (Greenwood) Gallagher, 98, of West Hartford Avenue died July 8, 2008 in the St. Camillus Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late James E. Gallagher who died in 1954.

Mrs. Gallagher worked as a Nurse's Aide and Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Saint Vincent's Hospital in Worcester, presently the Worcester Medical Center, for 15 years prior to her retirement.

Mrs. Gallagher was born March 1, 1910 in Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia Canada, the daughter of the late Lester and Charlotte (Cook) Greenwood and attended Nova Scotia public schools. She had been a resident of Nova Scotia prior to moving to Uxbridge in 1954.

Mrs. Gallagher attended the North Uxbridge Baptist Church. She was a member of the Uxbridge Senior Center and the Royal Travelers of RI. She enjoyed traveling in her retirement.

Mrs. Gallagher is survived by one son Lester J. Gallagher of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia; three daughters, Joan C. Wood of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, Marion B. Castonguay of Uxbridge, and Ann S. Pantani of Whitinsville; 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Neil A. Gallagher, a daughter Carol M. Penny, and her brother Clifford Greenwood.

Funeral services will be held Fri., July 11, 2008 at 2 PM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 North Main St. (Rt. 122) Uxbridge, MA 01569. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Linwood Ave., Whitinsville, MA 01588. Calling hours will be Fri., July 11, 2008, from 1-2 PM, prior to the service in the funeral home.
