Marilyn LaPlume Obituary

Marilyn Lee LaPlume, 65, of Clearwater, FL, passed away July 7, 2008 at Hospice Woodside in Pinellas Park after a short battle with lung cancer. Born in Caribou, Maine, Marilyn moved to Florida in 1978 from Massachusetts. Affectionately known at "Memmere" by her grandchildren, she was a meticulous homemaker and adult caregiver for many years. Marilyn was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Clearwater, and despite the odds to overcome a rare type of breast cancer 22 years ago, she lived passionately with the ultimate strength, courage and love for life.

She is survived and will be missed by her husband of 46 years, Roger; two sons, Dr. Jeffery and wife Cyndie, Kenneth and wife Julie; three grandchildren, Ashley O'Connell, Devyn and Jenna LaPlume; two brothers, Erwin and Gerald Bradford; and sister, Joyce Carlton.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Marilyn's life immediately following. Donations are appreciated to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast.

May the loving memory and joyful spirit that lived within Marilyn shine through every rainbow and remain in our hearts forever.

Dearest Roger & Family,
I am so sorry for your lose of Marilyn. She was truly a great lady. I will always treasure the last conversation I had with her, which was, of course, about you Roger!! I know you will miss her more than anyone could imagine, as well as all the kids, young and older! I will of course be praying for each and everyone of you. Your road may be long and hard in the coming months, but you must know you are not traveling it alone. God blessed her in life, she is with Him now, and watching you all from above.
God Bless all of you.

Jeff, Kenny, and Roger
I am so sorry to hear of Marilyn's passing. I will always remember how kind and friendly she was. Marilyn was probably the "best" Mom in our group of friends. I still remember Jeff's graduation party when she did the beer funnel along with the rest of us. She was a fun lady! She will be missed by all that knew her. My prayers are with your whole family.
