Henry A. "Hank" Bjorklund

Henry A. "Hank" Bjorklund, 82, of W. Boylston, died Sun., July 13 in Sterling Healthcare. He leaves his wife of 59 years, Beverly (Parker) Bjorklund; five children: David and his wife Barbara Bjorklund of Jupiter, FL, Richard and his wife Dianna Bjorklund of Joplin, MO, Bruce and his wife Pamela Bjorklund of West Boylston, Stephen and his wife Cathy Bjorklund of West Boylston, Lynne and her husband John Doldoorian of Whitinsville; a sister, Ellen Moats of Illinois; ten grandchildren; a great-grandchild and nieces and nephews. A sister, Gulli Ryberg, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Adolf and Britta (Israelson) Bjorklund. He was a Marine Corps Veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theatre and fought in the campaigns on Okinawa and Peleliu. He was a purple heart recipient.

Hank worked for the West Boylston Police Department for many years and served at one time as the Chief. Prior to that he was a route salesman for Town Talk Bakery for many years. After his retirement, he owned and operated a landscaping business in West Boylston. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Harold N. Keith American Legion, Post #204, the Massachusetts Police Assoc., past president of the Frohsinn Club of Shrewsbury and founder of the Worcester County Police Chiefs Assoc. He enjoyed golfing, dancing and the outdoors.

A Funeral Service will be held Thurs., July 17th, at 10 AM in the First Congregational Church, 26 Church St. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Wed., July 16th from 5 to 8 PM at FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 W. Boylston St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Boylston Police and Ambulance Fund, 39 Worcester St., W.
