Liap Ketnouvong Obituary

Dr. Liap Ketnouvong, 63, of 31 High Street, Southbridge, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 12th at UMASS Medical surrounded by his loving family.

Dr. Ketnouvong was born in Laos, December 15, 1944, a son of the late Thoine and Seane Ketnouvong.

For almost three decades, he and his family immigrated and lived in the town of Southbridge on September 9, 1980.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Vang (Palphoui), six loving children; Bountiap Ketnouvong of Dudley, Davone Keovongmanysar of Southbridge, Chansamone Morrow of West Boylston, Amphone Keovongmanysar of New York City, Phoutasone Southbridge and Phonetip Ketnouvong of Paxton. He also is survived by 8 grandchildren.

He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Dr. Ketnouvong was a compassionate Veterinarian in Laos. He had never turned his back on a payment of vegetables, fresh meat or household goods for the much needed medical services he had conducted for his very low income clients because he, like them, came from a very poor family. His heart ruled him more than the call of greed and money.

He will be well remembered for his wonderful loving heart, gentle and polite manners, his unshakable strong family values and his insistence of a higher education for his children, grandchildren and his ever present smiles which reached deep within his heart. His hopes are simple; for his children and grandchildren to live with honor and carry as he has in life.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Laotian Buddhist Ceremony at 5:00 - 6:30 PM to follow by calling hours from 6:30 - 8:00 PM Friday, July 18th at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge.

Cremation will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 19th, starting at 1:00 PM procession from Sansoucy Funeral Home to end at All Faith Crematory, 7 Island Road, Worcester.
