Gertrude Orbon Obituary

Gertrude R. Orbon, 93, of Thompson Road, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Webster Manor Nursing Home, Webster. She is survived by five nephews and nieces: David Orbon of Oxford, John Paul Orbon of Auburn, Barbara Pilling of Vienna, VA, Dr. Richard Orbon of Albuquerque, NM, and Kenneth Orbon of Syracuse, NY; and several great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two sisters: Anna Orbon of Dudley and Beatrice Orbon of Worcester; and two brothers: Joseph Orbon and John L. Orbon, both of New York. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Muzinski) Orbon, and lived in Worcester and Dudley before moving to Webster. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester.

Miss Orbon was a service technician at New England Telephone Co. for over 30 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Silver Dippers and enjoyed traveling with the group. She was a member of the Webster Senior Center, and enjoyed gardening and traveling throughout the world, including trips to Greece, China, and Tibet. She enjoyed parties, dancing, and her family was the most important part of her life. She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 16, 2008, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

I was saddended to hear about the death of Gert. She and my mother Carrrie Valentinetti shared many fun hours together on their trips, I will continue to remember Gert as I yearly make her bread and butter pickles. Best receipe yet. I will keep all of you in my prayers during this most difficult time
