Lawrence Nelson Obituary

Lawrence Nelson, 83, of 11 Deer Pond Drive, died Monday, July 14th in his home surrounded by his family after an illness.

He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Mary F. (Bassan) Nelson; a son, The Rev. Frank L. Nelson and his wife Judith of Huntington Station, New York; two daughters, Christina M. Nelson and her companion Ken Caron of Worcester, Karin M. Rock and her husband Daniel of Rutland; a sister, Frances Nelson of New Sweden, Maine; 5 grandchildren, Eve, Jacob, Madison, Alexandra & Charles; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister, Thelma Patricks.

Mr. Nelson was born in New Sweden, Maine son of Frank H. and Elvira (Olson) Nelson. He was a machinist at Parker & Harper Manufacturing in Worcester for 44 years retiring in 1990. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Auburn and the Auburn Elks. He was a voracious reader. The family wishes to thank those who provided compassionate care, especially Dr. Kevin Martin, Dr. Ralph Sama and the staff of the V.N.A. Care Hospice.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 19th at 11:00 AM in Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn. Entombment will be in All Faith's Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will preceded the service from 10:00-11:00 AM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 90 Bryn Mawr Ave., Auburn, MA 01501. MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester is directing arrangements.
