Joseph Janczyk Obituary

Joseph J. Janczyk, 90, of 3 West Second St. died Tues. July 15 after an illness.

His wife of 50 years, Dorothy Y. (Chabot) Janczyk died Oct. 11, 1997. He is survived by 3 sons, Raymond Janczyk of Jacksonville NC, William Janczyk of Orient, Wash., and James Janczyk of Manchaug; a daughter, Carole Helgesen of Sutton; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Alice Kwandrians and Regina Janczyk both of Chepachet RI; and many nephews and nieces. He was brother of the late Jake, Teddy, Charlie and Raymond Janczyk. Born in Pawtucket RI on Aug. 18, 1917, he was the son of Wladyslaw and Julia (Karlvoski) Janczyk and lived in Manchaug since 1946.

Mr. Janczyk worked 2 jobs to support his family. He was a supervisor and worked on the magneto and torpedo jobs at the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville for 47 years. He also worked as a mechanic at REN Chevrolet in Whitinsville many years. He was an Alumnus of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He loved to restore model A cars, and passed his joy for cars to his family. He enjoyed the Sutton and Northbridge Senior Centers as well as bingo. He was a member of St. Anne's Church. He will be greatly missed and his life will be celebrated as a great success.

His funeral will be held Fri. July 18 from Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., Douglas with a Mass at 9 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 29 Main St. Manchaug. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Whitinsville. Calling hours at the funeral home were Thurs. July 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Anne's Church Box 311 Manchaug MA 01526.
