Merle Vaidulas Obituary

Merle (Chapman) Vaidulas died at her home on Pleasant Street at the age of 90. She was born in Barre the daughter of Earl and Fern (Douglas) Chapman and was educated in the Barre Schools and graduated from Barre High School. She was predeceased by her husband, George Vaidulas.

She is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Bingham of Palmer, Fay Smith and her husband Warner of Barre and Ramona Flynn with whom she lived. She also is survived by two step daughters, Betty Gavin of Conn. and her husband John and their two children, Mark and Diane and Joan Winterson of Plymouth, MA and her two daughters, Kristan and Kerry.

Merle worked for the Charles G. Allen Co. in Barre for 47 years retiring as Office Manager. She was a member of the Barre Women's Club, the Senior Bowling League, the Barre Golden Agers, and the Hubbardston Golden Agers. Merle was also a member of the Congregational Women's Fellowship, serving as chairman of their candy table at the Christmas Fair for 24 years. She was also a member and past treasurer of the Barre Congregational Church.

The service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Barre Congregational Church, Park St., Barre.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Barre Rescue Squad, PO Box 201, or the Barre Congregational Church Steeple Fund, Park St., Barre, MA 01005.

Pillsbury Funeral Home, 96 South Barre Rd., Barre.

Our sympathies to you and your families. We always admired Merle's senior years of independence, activity, and grace - if only we all could live out our lives so well. We're sorry we cannot make Saturday's service.
