Edward Aronovitz Obituary

Edward J. "Ed" Aronovitz died Thursday, July 17 peacefully in his sleep at his residence in Southwick, MA.

He leaves his wife of 38 years, Patricia (Asquich) Aronovitz; two sons, Richard Aronovitz of Northborough and David Aronovitz of Port Townsend, WA; two stepdaughters, Donna Evans of Portland, CT and Deborah Barton of Feeding Hills, MA; two grandchildren, Daniel Aronovitz and Julie Blencowe and two great grandchildren. His first wife Shirley (Brauer) Aronovitz died in 1965. His daughter Janet Aronovitz died in 1968. He was also predeceased by his brother Charles Aronovitz and his sister Libby Hurowitz.

He was born in Worcester a son of Morris and Eva (Goldstein) Aronovitz and graduated Clark University and was a registered Pharmicist. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving with General George S. Patton's 7th Army as a medic. One of his fondest memories was his being present for General Patton's famous "Make the other guy die for his country" speech when he assumed command of the 7th Army.

After his tour of duty he owned and operated Lincoln Pharmacy in Worcester and eventually had 9 stores in Worcester and Worcester County. He was a member of Temple Emanuel and it's Brotherhood, Mass Pharmaceutical Association, National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Worcester Lodge of B'Nai Brith, Life member of Level Lodge of Masons and Mount Pleasant Country Club.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on SUNDAY, JULY 20th in Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St.

I enjoyed working for Mr. Aronovitz at Lincoln Pharmacy offices fpr several years. He will be missed. My sincere sympathies to his family and Pat.
