Lawrence Griffin Obituary

Lawrence P. Griffin, 83, formerly of 79 Ennis Rd., passed away Sat., July 26.

He leaves his former wife, Estelle (Langlois) Griffin; seven children, Patricia Jones of Oxford, Mark Griffin of Worcester, Matthew Griffin of Oxford, Laura McGrath of Worcester, Christopher Griffin of Groton, CT, Melanie Griffin of Worcester and Sean Griffin of West Newbury; 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His son, James Griffin of Spencer predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Michael and Catherine (King) Griffin. He was a WWII Army veteran. Mr. Griffin was a truck driver for Chemical Sales for 46 years, retiring in 1987. Formerly, he worked as a part-time Police Officer in the Town of Oxford for 25 years. He was a member of St. Ann's Church and Teamsters Local 170. Mr. Griffin was a founding member and First Grand Knight of the Oxford Council Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer for the Dr. Walsh Foundation which gave Medical Aide to Korea and for his efforts he received a Papal Blessing.

The funeral will be Wednesday, July 30 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Church, 654 Main St., N. Oxford. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, July 29 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, 654 Main St., N. Oxford, MA 01537. For directions and online guestbook please visit
