Lawrence Cassella Obituary

Lawrence A. "Larry" Cassella Sr, 92, of Sunrise Florida, formerly of Worcester passed away Sunday, July 27th, 2008 in Sunrise after a long battle with heart disease.

Mr. Cassella was born in Hancock, New York, May 28th 1916, a son of Nunzio and Maria (Farina) Casella. He grew up and lived in Worcester, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, before moving to Sunrise, Florida more than thirty five years ago.

During his employed years Larry worked for a local steel mill and David Clark Company before retiring. He was a former member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. A simple hardworking man who loved his family and most of all his grandchildren. He most enjoyed being with and around them.

He is survived by his wife and partner of sixty eight years, Mary (Ascrizzi) Cassella; A daughter Maryann Cassella of Sunrise, Florida; a son, Lawrence A. "Larry" Cassella, Jr. of Worcester; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews in Massachusetts and Florida.

The funeral will be held Friday, August 1st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday, July 31st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The family request that flowers be omitted.
