Ethel Kontaxis Obituary

Ethel "Efthimia" (Cimi) Kontaxis, of Worcester, passed away Monday, July 28th in St. Francis Home after a short illness. Her husband, Peter E. Kontaxis, died in 1984.

She leaves a son, Teddy E. Kontaxis and his wife Maureen of Watertown; two daughters, Anna E. Kontaxis of Worcester and Angelina E. Contonio and her husband James of South Dennis; a sister, Alexandra Qirani of Greece; and several nephews and nieces.

She was born in Albania, the daughter of Spiro and Anna (Pappas) Cimi and moved here in 1935.

Mrs. Kontaxis was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and needlework and was very proud that she became a United States citizen.

A calling hour will be Friday, August 1st from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, followed by a service at 10:00 A.M. in the Cathedral. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609. O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, is directing arrangements.
