Mildred FitzPatrick Obituary

Mildred L. (Ray) FitzPatrick, of Holden, passed away peacefully Monday, July 28th, in Holy Trinity Nursing Center, Worcester.

Mildred was born in Charlton, to Walter F. and Marion E. (Stone) Ray. She was the wife of the late George M. FitzPatrick, owner of the former FitzPatrick Lumber Company in Worcester. She leaves a sister, Margaret R., wife of Earle D. Whitney of Warminster, PA; five nieces and two nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, all of Charlton, Ida L. Ray, Hazel M., wife of George Stone, and Florence D., wife of Harold Pontbriand. Mildred lived in Charlton, Worcester, and Webster before making her home in Holden, at 15 John Alden Drive for over 35 years.

She was a graduate of the former Charlton High School and was active in the business community for many years. Her career began at the Bank of Springfield, but she also worked for many years as an administrator of the offices at Packard Mills in Webster. With the closing of Packard Mills, Mildred became the Treasurer of the former White & Bagley Company of Worcester, where she also served for many years until her retirement. Mildred was a long-time member of the Worcester Club, the Worcester Art Museum, and Old Sturbridge Village. Mildred traveled extensively and collected many interesting artifacts along the way. Mildred was an avid reader, enjoyed working in her flower gardens, and was also skilled at hand work, such as braiding.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, in Worcester, with a private service.
