Margaret O'Day Obituary

Margaret A. "Peg" (O'Connell) O'Day, 81, passed away Fri., Aug. 8. Her husband, Andrew J. O'Day passed away in 1977.

She was the beloved mother of Andrew J. "Buddy" O'Day, Jr., Timothy M. O'Day, with whom she lived, Eileen Cesaitis and her husband Robert and Kathleen J. O'Day all of Worcester. She also leaves her brother, Michael O'Connell and his wife, Marion of Worcester; two sisters, Ruth Jigarjian and Mary "Maxine" Lindgren all of Worcester; nine grandchildren, Robert Cesaitis, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, Tony Cesaitis and his longtime companion, Leslie, Michael Cesaitis, Kelly Curry and her husband Kenneth, James, Meghan, Erin, Andrew and Kevin O'Day; six great grandchildren, Makayla, Madison, Michael, Kailee, Vianna and Brionna and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Paul and Edward O'Connell.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Michael and Sarah (MacDonald) O'Connell and attended Worcester schools. Peg enjoyed family gatherings, bingo, the Red Sox and the Celtics. She always had a smile for everyone she met.

The funeral will be Tuesday, August 12 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 43 Belmont St. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday, August 11 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the Red Cross of Central Massachusetts, 2000 Century Drive, Worcester, MA 01606-1256. For directions and online guest book please visit

Peggy was loved so much by our mother Celine. She was such a wonderful and thoughtful friend, so generous and caring. We will always be appreciative of all of the good times and what a wonderful person Peg was to all of us.

Eileen, Kathy Timmy and Buddy,

I am deeply sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I will always remember all the fun times on Orchard Street, especially the Pokeno and card games. Peggy was a wonderful person and will be missed by many.
No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. My deepest condolences are with you as you grieve.
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
