John Coskie Obituary

John W. Coskie, Sr., 80, of Framingham, died Saturday, August 9, 2008, in MetroWest Medical Center, Framingham, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ethel (Pappas) Coskie; two sons: John Coskie, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Vineyard Haven, and Steven Coskie and his wife, Dixie, of Upton; a daughter, Sharon Bousquet and her husband, David, of Marlborough; and eight adoring grandchildren: Amanda, Brianna, Paul, Caroline, Anna-Theresa, Kevin, Monica, and Jack, all of Upton.

John was born in Clinton, son of Helen (Witkowski) Coskie, and was a graduate of Clinton High School. He was a US Navy Veteran of WWII, serving on the USS Massey.

Upon his discharge from the Navy, John began his career in the healthcare industry, working at Vernon Drug in Clinton, before receiving his degree in Pharmacy from Northeastern University. Over the years, he worked for Eli Lilly, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He found most rewarding the years he spent as the owner/operator of Lampman's Drugstore in Medway, MA.

He was a former member of Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church, Clinton, and was a communicant of St. George's and St. Stephen's Churches, both of Framingham.

An avid fan of all Boston sports teams, John was a season ticket holder of the New England Patriots for many years. He loved politics, and a good political debate. He was revered for his coupon-clipping prowess, regularly challenging family members to get a better deal than he had.

John's funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Jasna Gora Church, 128 Franklin St., Clinton. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Monday, August 11, 2008, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent, or donations may be made in his memory to: Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts, One Bulfinch Place, 2nd Fl., Boston, MA 02114.

My family and I are so sorry to hear about John. I know that he and my Dad especially were very close. I fondly remember chatting with him about all the grandkids in our Wakefield kitchen before my baby shower. He will be missed.

Our deepest condolences to you, Ethel, and all our cousins. John was the senior in our generation of cousins and his departure is too soon and profoundly sad. I truly regret not being able to be with you to give you a hug. It is a blessing to have all the kids nearby. My brother David is able to be there in time and he will bring our thoughts and prayers. Love from us all, Allen, Gail, Frank, and Katie.

My
wife Sharron and my most sincere condolences to Ethel and John's
children and grand-children whom he loved so much. John has been in my
life for all of my 71 years and I remember a photo of being held as a
baby with John standing near me on the Coskie farm in Northboro. I shall
miss him more than words can express.
