Earl Harvey Obituary

Earl L. Harvey, 63, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at UMASS Memorial Health Care, University Campus, Worcester. He was the loving husband of Gloria D. (Jolicoeur) Harvey for 42 years. Born in Putnam and raised in Thompson, he was the son of the late Edith (Harvey) Patterson and the late Ralph Patterson.

Mr. Harvey was a self-employed machinist having owned and operated EL Grinding. He retired in 2000. Earl was a U.S. Army Veteran having served as a reservist during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and working with stained glass. He enjoyed spending time with and teaching his grandsons, and enjoyed watching their sporting games.

Earl leaves behind that which he was proudest: his devoted wife Gloria; his loving daughter, Kim Kondek and her husband Tony of Dudley; his three beloved grandsons, Nicholas, Peter and Owen; two brothers, Les Harvey of Putnam and James Harvey of North Grosvenordale; four sisters, Ruthie Turski of Kissimmee, FL, Sydney Harvey of Hawaii, Alice Lincoln of Willimantic and Mary Jane Gleason of Putnam. He greatly loved and missed his son, Christopher Harvey who predeceased him.

Earl's funeral will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 10:00 am in the High Pointe Church, 1208 Thompson Road, Thompson. Burial with Military Honors will be in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, North Grosvenordale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Earl Harvey Scholarship Fund, c/o High Pointe Church, 1208 Thompson Road, Thompson, CT 06277.
