James Lee "Pap" Valentine

James Lee Valentine "Pap", 69, of Schofield Ave., died August, 14, at his home, in Dudley, after his long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Fairmont, West Virginia to Victor Okey and Iciebell (Fletcher) Valentine on Sept. 8, 1938. He leaves his wife of 46 years, Gail (Davis) Valentine and their four children; the spirit of their deceased son, James Wesley; daughters Ann Valentine of Dudley and Deborah Valentine Day and her husband Jerry Day of Charlton; son John Valentine and his wife Susan of Auburn; four precious grandchildren: Amber and Nathan Day of Charlton and Jacquelin and Jacob Valentine of Auburn. He leaves a sister, Mary Priest and a sister-in-law, Louise Valentine, both of Fairmount, WV: many special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Wesley Valentine and a sister, Helen Herron.

James worked at UPS for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He had the ability to make everyone feel welcome in his presence and to make sure you had a laugh or two as well. His sence of humor and wit will be forever in our hearts. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Funeral services will be in Fairmont, WV. Calling hours will be held today, Saturday from 5 to 8 PM at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley.
