Gayle Butler Obituary

Gayle C. Butler, 68, of 17 Williams St., died Saturday, August 16 in St.Vincent Hospital after a long illness.

Her husband of 24 years, Charles J. Butler died in 1983. She leaves 3 children, Cheryl King and her husband Scott of Northampton, John Butler and his wife Maureen of Dudley and Kerrie Bouchard and her husband Robert of Charlton; two brothers: Robert Richards of Auburn and Brendan Richards of Venice, FL; 11 cherished grandchildren, Erin, Emily and Molly King: Kyle, Cara and Daniel Butler: Julianne, Robert, Lora, Timothy and Christopher Bouchard; several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Oxford, the daughter of the late Henry and Dora (Fountain) Richards and she lived 40 years in Dudley. She graduated from Oxford High school and attended Worcester State College. She loved her family and her grandchildren, faithfully attending their basketball games and cheerleading competitions. She was a fixture at St. Anne's basketball games, winning fan of the year in 2006.

A funeral will be celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 20 with a Mass at 10 AM in St. Roch's Church, 334 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 5 to 8 PM at Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, 33 Schofield Ave., Dudley. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gayle's memory to 1-800-533-cure or JDRF.org
