Fred Liberatore

Fred Liberatore, age 92, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died, Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Metrowest Medical Center, Framingham. Born and raised in Framingham, he was the son of the late Sisto and Marianna (Viglione) Liberatore. He was the husband of 61 years to Jane G. (Butler) Liberatore of Framingham. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army, as a Tech Seargeant, with the 12th Armored Division "The Ghost Division" with Gen. Patton in the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns.

Prior to his military service he worked as a baker at Framingham State College. Following his discharge he returned to Framingham and was Head Baker at the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham for many years. He retired as Stationary Steam Engineer at the Cushing Hospital Power Plant.

Mr. Liberatore is a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corp., and the 12th Armored Division Assoc.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Frederick A. Liberatore and his wife Jeannine of No. Billerica, John E. Liberatore and his wife Cheryl of Framingham, Stephen P. Liberatore and his wife Wendy of Bourne, Daniel J. Liberatore and his wife Lillian of Framingham, and Jane C.L. Kelly and her husband A. Jeffrey of Worcester. He is also survived by nine grand-daughters, two grand-sons and three great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his siblings, Arthur and John Liberatore both of Framingham, Joseph Liberatore of PA, Richard Liberatore of NY, Irene Collins and Josephine Rose both of Framingham, and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Thomas A. Liberatore who died in November of 1970 and was the brother of the late Anthony Liberatore, Phyllis Whitney and Lillian Foster.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Ave.) Framingham followed by his funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford St. Natick. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 PM. Following cremation, burial will be in the family lot in Dell Park Cemetery, Natick.
