Josephine Longone Obituary

Josephine M. (Dziczek) Longone, 86, of Worcester, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2008, surrounded by her family from complications of Heart Disease and Stroke.

Josephine's husband, Alfred J. Longone passed away in 1993. She is survived by her devoted children, Claudia D. Gauthier and her husband Donald, John J. "Jack" Longone and his wife Linda; a sister, Genevieve French; two cherished granddaughters, Lindsay wife of Darrel Dupuis of Holden, and Kara Longone of Worcester; two adored great grandsons, Alexander and Cole; two sisters in law, Clara Longone of Worcester and Betty Dziczek of Burton Michigan; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Ralph and Chester Dziczek and two sisters Rose Dziczek and Helen Sestito all predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Joseph and Helena (Rydel) Dziczek. She graduated from Commerce high and has lived here all her life.

Josephine worked more than 20 years for the City of Worcester School Department before retiring. During World War II, Josephine was a "Rosie the Riveter" working for Wyman Gordon company.

She was a founding member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church and its Rosary Sodality. She was also a member of the friends of Mechanics Hall. Josephine enjoyed cooking for herself and others. She also enjoyed Crochet and spending time with her family.

Josephine's funeral will be held Friday, August 29th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 1 Wiser Ave. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 28th inn the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The St. Vincent Hospital Bell Tower Fund, c/o Saint Vincent Hospital Finance Department 123 Summer Street, Worcester, MA 01608.

The Longone family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Staff of St. Vincent Hospital, Unit 24, North for the care and compassion they gave to our mother during this difficult time.

My name is Ralph Ginese (Dziczek) son of Ralph Dziczek, I spent Aug. 24, 2008 with my aunt Jo and aunt Gig, we went out for lunch and had a wonderful time. I am glad I visit ed with them both. I live in California and on my visit back to Ma. made a point to visit with them both. I took pictures of us together and I will always remember that day.
