Paul Kane Obituary

Paul J. Kane, 88, of 185 Arlington St., died on August 30, 2008, at home. His wife of 59 years, Beryl L. (Cleveland) Kane, passed away in Oct. 2007.

He leaves three sons, Paul J. (Jimmy) Kane and his wife Lisa, of Templeton, Brian C. Kane and his wife Maryann, of Lunenburg and Kevin J. Kane and his wife Sharon, of Barre; four grandchilden, Rebecca Kane of Lunenburg, Lindsay Mae of S. Grafton, Jessica Kane of Lunenburg and Andrew Kane of S. Grafton; three sisters, Sister Mary Kane of The Mary Knoll Sisters of Maryknoll, NY., Irene K. Buchanan of Fitchburg, and Agnes K. Sullivan of Ayer. He was predeceased by a brother, John F. Kane of Ashburn, VA and Thomas (Joe) Kane of Fitchburg.

Paul was born in Fitchburg on February 3, 1920, son of John and Helen (Fenton) Kane. He was a veteran of WWII, serving with The 9th Army Air Force attached to the 367th Fighter Group, serving at bases in England, France, and Germany. Paul and his wife owned and operated Cleve's Package Store in Lunenburg for 30 years. He also worked for Tidewater Oil Company for 15 years. He was a long time member of St. Boniface Church in Lunenburg and a member of St. Leo's Parish in Leominster. Paul was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2346 in Saugus, MA and a lifetime member at the Eastwood Club in Fitchburg.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Leo's Parish, 108 Main St., Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 2 from 5-8 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Diversified Hospice, 25 Tucker Dr., Leominster, MA 01453.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Paul will always hold a special place in my heart. He always had a way of making people smile and feel comfortable. I always enjoyed are visits in the office, with him and one of the boys, we always had a good time. He is resting now with Beryl, and is greatful to all of you for the wonderful care and comfort he got from his family, he loved all of you so much, he always said he had the best family a man could ask for. I will always say a prayer for him and I will always remeber our visits. Thank you for the time we had he really was a special friend, along with his family.
