Nardina Romano Obituary

Nardina (Mancini) Romano, 93, of Sturbridge, a longtime resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully Monday, September 1, 2008, in her home.

Her husband of 31 years, Carmen A. Romano died June 17, 1962. She leaves her son, Carmen Romano and his wife Ann of Worcester; two daughters, Ann Marie Lombardi and her husband Joseph of Sturbridge, with whom she lived, and Marie Pecorelli and her husband Patsy of Shrewsbury; a brother, Peter Mancini of Worcester; two sisters, Mary Volpe and Josephine DeSimone both of Worcester; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her three brothers, Pat, Frank and Matteo Mancini; a sister, Louisa DiFranco; and a daughter-in-law, Fina (Leone) Romano.

Nardina was born in Worcester on July 4, 1915, daughter of Domenic and Carmella (Ciuffreda) Mancini. She had lived in Worcester for most of her life, moving to Sturbridge in 2005 with her daughter. She worked for Hahnemann Hospital in the Dietary Department for 14 years, retiring in 1980. Nardina was devoted to her family and a woman of incredible faith.

The funeral for Nardina will be held Friday, September 5th, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel – Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 A.M to 10:30 A.M. prior to her funeral Mass. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery.
