Joseph Listavich Obituary

Joseph A. "Usey" Listavich, 90, of Millbury, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in Christopher House, Worcester. His wife, Anna F. (Urbis) Listavich died in 1992.

He leaves nieces and nephews in California and cousins and friends in the Worcester area. He was born and raised in Worcester, a son of Joseph and Ann (Butkus) Listavich and has lived in Millbury since 1952.

Mr. Listavich was an assistant foreman and supervisor in the tooling and troubleshooting departments of Heald Machine Co. where he worked for 45 years before he retired. He served with the Millbury Auxiliary Police for 32 years. He was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II and served as a Sergeant. Joseph was a member of Our Lady of Vilna Church, Worcester. He was a member of and rode with the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, Massachusetts Chapter II. He was proud of his Lithuanian heritage and was a 50 year member of the Lithuanian Social Club. He helped organize and run the Lithuanian American Drum Corps and was a member of the American Legion, the Greendale Retired Men's Club, the Central Mass. Police Association and the Southern Mass. Police Association. His hobbies were motorcycling, playing bridge, golf and bowling.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Vilna Church, 151 Sterling St., Worcester. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday, in the funeral home.

Our sincere condolences to Joe's family. He was a gentleman and was a good friend of our mother, Josephine Wall. She looked forward to his visits while she was in the nursing home. With deepest sympathy from her 2 daughters.
