Julia Lilla Obituary

Julia (Gawle) Lilla, 103, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Julia was born January 2, 1905, daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Laincz) Gawle. She was the wife of the late (Doctor) Captain Robert S. Lilla who died in 1948. Julia is survived by her beloved son, Robert Lilla and his wife Inge of Webster. Other survivors include four brothers, Henry Gawle of Webster, MA, Alphonse Gawle of Seattle, WA, Paul Gawle of Seeley Lake, MT, and Peter Gawle of Webster, MA. Julia was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers, Mary Gawle, Rose Surdek, Sophia Montpetit, Walter Gawle, Francis Gawle, John Gawle and Joseph Gawle. A devoted grandmother of four, she also leaves behind Clifford Lilla of Webster, Susan Montville, and her husband Robert of Dudley, Michael Lilla and his wife Fran of Rolling Hills, PA, and Jeff Lilla and his wife Ann of Webster. Also left behind are six great grandchildren, Renee Carlson, Brian Montville, Steven Montville, Jamie Lilla, Erik Lilla and Kristen Lilla as well as four great great granddaughters, Maggie Montville, Corinne Carlson, Katie Lilla and Juliette Lilla. Also she leaves behind several nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and grand nephews.

Julia was best known for her years of serving the customers at the original Point Breeze Restaurant as the waitress with the bee-hive hair style and the warm and caring smile.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Robert J. Miller Funeral Home and Lake Chapel, 366 School St., Webster is assisting the family with arrangements.
